Pray, grow, and choose. You will find those words familiar as they always recur in most of their conversations—those words that make up Jonah and Chad’s own definition of love.
Pray—because we know that without Christ, we are powerless to accomplish anything. This couple is living by His faith—two imperfect individuals that were perfectly put together in His time. Grow, as they settle to flourish together with their goal, aspirations, and guiding principles, cognizant of the fact that they are both pragmatic people. Feelings are fleeting, as they put it.
Choose, as the Bible defines love as an act of will—a choice—rather than an emotional response. Love is a choice, and I hope we keep choosing it because it feels like home and the greatest adventure all at once. Jonah and Chad’s Bukit Timah hikes, rental bike dates, iced milos by the street and iced coffees at arbitrary cafes they found are now set see more things as they exchange their vows. And to wrap up all those words together:
“I pray that we grow up always choosing one another. In other words, I love you.”
